The journey

Travel with a sense of wonder.

In Bhutan, spirituality is woven into everyday life. Prayer flags move in the mountain breeze, monasteries sit above ancient valleys and traditions are carried forward through generations.

Sacred Bhutan is a thoughtful introduction to this remarkable heritage. Explore significant temples, meet local people and discover the stories behind places of devotion, while enjoying the comfort and privacy of a journey designed around you.

This is not a fixed programme. We can adjust the pace, visits and accommodation to reflect your interests.

Beyond the landmarks

A deeper connection to place.

Some of the most memorable moments are also the simplest: a conversation with a local guide, the sound of prayers in a monastery courtyard or an unhurried walk through a village.

We create space for these experiences, with visits arranged respectfully and adapted to local customs and availability.

Your suggested itinerary

Eight days, thoughtfully arranged.

Travel through Paro, Thimphu and Punakha with your own guide and vehicle. The route can be extended to allow more time for a Tiger’s Nest pilgrimage, personal encounters or restorative stays.

DAY 01

Arrival in Paro

Arrive in the Paro Valley, where your private guide welcomes you. Settle into your chosen lodge and enjoy a gentle introduction to Bhutan, with time to rest after your journey.

DAY 02

Sacred sites of Paro

Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most revered temples. Discover traditional architecture and local stories before spending a peaceful afternoon exploring the valley.

DAY 03

Journey to Thimphu

Travel to the capital through wooded valleys. Visit the Buddha Dordenma overlooking Thimphu and explore places where Buddhist heritage remains part of daily life.

DAY 04

Traditions of Thimphu

Discover monasteries, traditional arts and local neighbourhoods. Subject to arrangements, meet a knowledgeable local practitioner for a personal introduction to Bhutanese Buddhist traditions.

DAY 05

Over Dochula to Punakha

Cross Dochula Pass, where 108 chortens stand against a mountain backdrop. Continue into the warmer Punakha Valley, allowing time for quiet stops and unhurried exploration.

DAY 06

The spiritual heart of Punakha

Visit Punakha Dzong at the meeting of two rivers and discover the valley’s temples, villages and landscapes. Enjoy a slower afternoon at your lodge.

DAY 07

Return to Paro

Travel back to Paro, pausing at scenic viewpoints along the way. The afternoon is yours to rest or explore. Prepare for an early start the following morning.

DAY 08

Tiger’s Nest pilgrimage and departure planning

For the most comfortable experience, we recommend adding a ninth day for departure. On this eight-day itinerary, the Tiger’s Nest hike can instead be arranged on Day 7 by adjusting the route and accommodation. Day 8 is reserved for your private airport transfer.
